Seen in these photos is a picture of a deck made of a manufactured wood product called ‘Modwood’ the other photo is ‘Merbau’ a hardwood timber.
Modwood does have the benefit of longivity and resistance to rot. The product does come in a number of different colours, the boards are straight with no knots. One negative is I have known this product to get very hot under foot when in the sun and some may argue it just does not look like the real thing.
Timber decking has the benefit of being a renewable product and we do like the look and feel of real wood. Timber decking does come in a variety of species, colours and grain.
